February 2016 - The Shaw Family

Aloha! We are the Shaw Family and we are truly blessed and honored to be chosen as PDD's Family of the Month! Lauren is a 6th grader at 'Iolani School and loves playing club soccer for the Slammers, and Jodi (mom) is the oncology social worker for Kaiser Permanente Hawaii.
It's so difficult to adequately articulate what Pas De Deux and Wendy and Jeremy mean to us and how they've affected our lives. Lauren began her PDD journey in June 2011 with Musical Theatre and voice with Mr. Chris. From the start, we knew that PDD was special and different from other studios. We'd actually tried 3 other studios prior but none felt like the right fit for us. In contrast, at PDD, we both felt immediately welcomed and were impressed with the caliber of instruction. Rehearsals and performances were done professionally with high standards and expectations of the students, as well as the parents, and it was/is just fun and comfortable at PDD!

In September 2011, Pat (dad) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and the PDD 'ohana immediately encircled us with their love and support which, together with the support of our family, friends, and our soccer 'ohana, helped carry us through Pat's battle with cancer and his eventual passing in July 2013. PDD helped us to maintain normalcy and fun in our lives, and Pat was so proud to see Lauren blossom and grow at PDD...and she just wanted to keep adding on more classes – hip hop, hula, ballet, and jazz!

I truly believe that Lauren would not be the well-adjusted, fun-loving, singing and dancing fool she is now had it not been for Pas De Deux and the love and support of Wendy, Jeremy, all her amazing teachers, and her fellow students and their families! Pas De Deux is not just a dance and music school, it is truly an 'ohana and a community unto itself that all families should be a part of!

Thank you for everything, Wendy & Jeremy!

We love you,
Lauren, Jodi & Pat
