November 2017 - The Agos Family

Aloha from the Agos Family! We are so humbled to receive the PDD Family of the Month for November 2017. Ricky works as Sheetmetal Foremen for Air Central, Inc and part-time chauffer driving his kids to their activities in the evening and on weekends. Flo is employed at The Queen’s Medical Center – Punchbowl as a Nurse Manager for an Orthopedic & Trauma unit and leads her team to provide quality healthcare services to our community. Braeden is a 6 grader attending Momilani Elementary School and enjoys playing basketball. Trista attends Damien Memorial School as an 8th grader and will soon be turning 13 on Chirstmas Day 2017. In spite of Trista’s busy dance and school schedule, she continues to maintain a 4.0 GPA.

In 2009, we were approached by a friend to join a free trial class at Pas De Deux. Although a bunch of her classmates were attending the free trial, Trista was hesitant and would not budge on taking the free class. After persuading her to consider, she agreed to go if her good friend Sydney Dolor accompanied her. At the age of 5, Trista and Sydney took their first Hip Hop class with Mr. Erick. This was the beginning of our dance journey. After participating in our first recital at Leeward Community College, our family realized a “BEAST” was born on stage… Inspired by watching all the talented dancers, Trista was eager to add Jazz to her schedule… Then BOOM!!! Trista was totally in her element… The art of dance brings out the best in Trista. She shines in the comfort of her dance sisters and brothers. Dance provides her a sense of confidence and discipline. Attributes I possibly may not been able to teach her. PDD provided Trista the opportunity to compete at Dance Awards in Las Vegas, Jump and Spotlight dance competitions. As a member of the PDD Jr. Hip Hop and Jazz Company, a mentor, and a role model, Trista would like to offer these word of encouragement to all dancers at PDD, “work hard, stay focused, believe in your abilities, dance like know ones watching, keep practicing, love what you do, and have fun dancing.”

If you’re looking for a dance studio… take advantage of the free trial PDD offers. If your child is currently attending PDD, I highly encourage all parents to fellowship with other parents and get to know the instructors. Also, please consider volunteering for special events and recitals. These events would not be successful without parent engagement. PDD is truly an Ohana!!!

Lastly, BIG MAHALO to Wendy and Jeremy Gilbert for dreaming BIG and having this inspiring VISION to create a safe environment for all the children to thrive and showcase their love for DANCE! Also, much respect to the amazing and committed Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, BBoy, Vocal, Theater, and Company instructors… WE are forever grateful and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you do...

Wishing you all a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!
