October 2018 - The Kiehm Family

Hi Everyone! We are the The Kiehm family from Pearl City and we are very honored to be named PDD's Family of the Month for October 2018!

Alia just turned 15 last month and is a sophomore at Pear City High School. She has been dancing since she was 3 years old and is still going strong. She has been an honor student since 7th grade and continues to be driven and keep her grades up. Her greatest achievement was being a dancer in a Japanese green tea commercial at 7 years old for Japan Asahi Company. Alia is also a former vocal and musical theater student, and has been in PDD's productions of “High School Musical", "The Nut Cracker", "Alice in Wonderland",  and "Into the Woods Jr.". She was also in the 2016 Dance the World, which took place in Disney World Florida. Alia was also PDD Jazz Dancer of the Year in 2015.

Dance mom Kat works for Ito HealthCare Group as Corporate Food Service Director and has been in the food industry for 35 years. Dance Dad Rutherford (Rut) works as a Labor Formen for Nordic Construction but cooking is his forte, and has a background in culinary and patisserie.

Whenever we have free time, we take a spin in our 1956 Dune Buggy, get shave ice at Matsumoto’s, go to the beach or D&Bs. Lastly, our hearts are healing slowly with Alia's brother's passing last year; forever in our hearts and never forgotten. He always supported Alia and watched her shows.

Our family is grateful to Wendy and Jeremy for providing excellence in the performing arts on the West side. Thank you to the great teachers and their passion that shines bright so the students will glow and shine as well.
