December 2018 - The Campos-Gungap Family

Aloha! We are the Campos-Gungap Ohana, Joy, Cheryl, Jasmyn, and Chelsey Joy. We are truly honored to be chosen as Family of the Month for December 2018.

Meet Joy, he works at Hawaiian Airlines as their GSE Mechanic. Cheryl is a Registered Nurse at HMSA - on their hospital discharge team. Jasmyn is now a teenager at Waipahu Intermediate and Chelsey is a fun loving preschooler at Rosary.

In May 2009 we were actively looking for dance studios for Jasmyn, then 4 years old. We saw Wendy in the news, announcing Pas de deux Hawaii opening in Waipahu, we knew we had to sign up. Jasmyn was also a huge fan of Nina, from Disney's Imagination Movers. So choosing Pas De Deux was a no brainer.

Jasmyn started with creative movement, later moved to jazz, ballet, then hula, she even tried some hip hop. She was hooked. In 2014, Jasmyn was honored in receiving, Little Dancer of the Year at Pas de deux. It was an experience she will never forget. She danced hula at the Pro-bowl, and countless times throughout the community. Her favorite moment was dancing at the Disneyland Parade and Dance the magic showcase. She continues to do competitions at Spotlight and Jump. Jasmyn is excited  to be part of PDD Jr. Company Jazz team and travel in the summers Dance Awards in Las Vegas 2019. Jasmyn now mentors the younger children at the studio and is proud that she is able to support the teachers.

Our youngest Chelsey Joy was literally born into Pas De Deux. She started with creative movement early this year and is now in Pre-jazz. We felt like we started dance all over again, but this time with more seasoned and more knowledgeable. Chelsey talks about wanting to sing, we will see how this will take her as she gets older.

To families that are new to PDD: Try to get to know the families around you in the studio and by volunteering! Doing so you will gain information navigating the dance world. We found many dance families in our neighborhood, we help each other with carpooling, but most importantly we gained friendships.

To the teachers and staff: Thank you for providing my girls the knowledge of dance and incorporating it with lessons in life.  For the front staff for being so kind in answering my questions.

To Wendy and Jeremy: Thank you for creating such a positive environment and for giving our daughters the opportunity to dance at your studio. Thank you for caring and personally reaching out to our family when we needed it the most.

That's why we love Pas De Deux!

Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!

Joy, Cheryl, Jasmyn, & Chelsey Joy
