June 2019 - The Hayashi Family

Thank you PDD for recognizing us as the June 2019 Family of the Month!

Kara loved music as a baby and had an interest in performing at a very early age.  We started her in Creative Movement at the Mililani YMCA, then we moved to Pas De Deux in Waipahu when she was 5 years old.

Our family recently moved from Ewa Beach to Salt Lake so we could be closer to work and school.  Clinton is a Medical Technologist at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua.  Lenora is also a Medical Technologist and works for Clinical Labs of Hawaii in Aiea.  Kara (13) will be a freshman at Moanalua High School in the fall.  She is currently dancing with the Teen Ballet, Teen Jazz, and Teen/Sr Contemporary Companies.  She's also interested in singing, piano, and hip hop.

As parents, we are extremely blessed to be able to send Kara to a wonderful studio like PDD.  She has grown up there and every time she performs, she amazes us!  Thank you to Wendy, Jeremy, all the teachers, and administration at PDD for nurturing Kara and pushing her to be her best self.  She appreciates the diversity of classes that PDD offers and the different teaching styles that she is able to learn from.  Dance has not only taught her about dedication, determination, and diligence, but also how to be a team player and to have compassion for her dance sisters.

We are so proud of the young woman she is turning out to be...we hope she continues to develop her skills as a dancer and takes advantage of everything that is being offered to her.

Our advice to new families:  be flexible, be open to opportunities, and cultivate your child's love of performing.

Thank you again, PDD!
